Adam Rockwell is a novelist and essayist based on the Oregon Coast, best known for The Unexpected Exorcist and his weekly essays. Whether it’s real-life reflection, supernatural satire, or small-town strangeness, he does it all — usually with a very strong cup of coffee.
His books include The Unexpected Exorcist and The Mabel Tainter Memorial: A Lumber Baron’s Legacy—the official guidebook to one of Wisconsin’s most haunted (and architecturally stunning) theaters. Plus, another book that we shall not discuss here in polite company.
New Substack posts usually land on the weekend. Sometimes Saturday, sometimes Sunday. Occasionally Wednesday, if the cats lets him write.
Adam grew up in small-town Wisconsin, spent a decade writing and working in Minneapolis, and now live with my family in Newport, Oregon. I’m slowly becoming an amateur-class whale watcher and full-time umbrella enthusiast, mostly to annoy the Oregon Coast locals. 🐋 ☂️
Thanks for reading. If you’re looking for me, I’ll be down in the salt mines, writing it up!
